This site is
a humble effort to celebrate the musical heritage of Kunwar Shyam (1850-1910).
Kunwar Shyam,
also known as Goswami Shri Lal, had penned down unbelievable musical lyrics of
astounding beauty. Unfortunately, with passage of time, many of those have been
lost.
We are now
making an effort to bring the still available creations of Kunwar Shyam to
public domain, as a gift to the Indian Classical Music fraternity. There is no
financial consideration behind this project and only aim is to ensure that
Kunwar Shyam’s amazing creations are not lost completely.
In addition to
the compositions, few recordings sung by Shri Chitresh Goswami are also being
presented to highlight the Kunwar Shyam Gharana’s style of singing. Sh Chitresh
is not a professional singer, though he is grandson of Kunwar Shyam but as
explained in the History Page (About Kunwar Shyam), he couldn’t receive proper
training from either Sh. Kunwar Shyam or
Sh Madan Lal (Sh Kunwar Shyam’s adopted son).
Please note
that this is an amateur effort and there are bound to be some mistakes and
omissions. We request the Indian classical music lovers to ignore such small
mistakes but suggestions would be more then welcome.
